Thrive Academy High School

The high school years at Thrive Academy are a time of growth, independence, and preparation for life beyond the classroom. Our program empowers students with Autism Spectrum Disorder to think critically, develop strong self-advocacy skills, and engage meaningfully with the world around them. Through individualized instruction, structured supports, and real-world learning opportunities, students build confidence, resiliency skills, and practical strategies that prepare students for life beyond the classroom, we empower them to pursue their goals and thrive in school careers, and everyday life.

Core Curriculum

Our core curriculum is thoughtfully designed to meet the unique needs of students with autism. We provide individualized instruction that honors each learner’s strengths while integrating academic learning with structured behavioral support, sensory regulation, social communication development, and emotional resilience. This holistic approach ensures students feel safe, supported, and empowered to grow both academically and personally.

Language Arts

High school Language Arts focuses on strengthening communication, comprehension, and self-expression in both academic and real-world settings. Students develop reading, writing, and presentation skills through literature, research, and structured writing assignments. Emphasis is placed on organizing ideas, understanding different perspectives, and communicating effectively in written, verbal, and digital formats.

Science

Science courses encourage students to explore the natural world through observation, experimentation, and investigation. Topics may include biology, environmental science, and physical science, with an emphasis on real-world connections and critical thinking. Students engage in hands-on activities that help them understand how scientific principles apply to everyday life and future career opportunities.

Mathematics

High school mathematics builds on foundational skills while introducing concepts such as algebra, data analysis, and practical financial math. Instruction emphasizes real-world application, helping students develop problem-solving skills that support everyday decision-making. Lessons focus on logical reasoning, financial literacy, and practical math skills needed for independence and future career paths.

Social Studies

Social Studies helps students understand historical events, global cultures, and civic responsibility. Through discussions, research, and project-based learning, students explore how societies function and how individuals contribute to their communities. Lessons emphasize critical thinking, informed decision-making, and awareness of the world around them.

ELECTIVES

At Thrive Academy, high school students have access to a wide range of electives that support both personal interests and future goals. Courses such as music, art, STEM, physical education, and yearbook provide meaningful opportunities for students to explore their passions while building practical, transferable skills. These experiences help prepare students for life after high school by fostering creativity, collaboration, communication, and real-world readiness.
